Exploring Visual Language Through Art and Motion
Welcome to my creative space, where analog and digital art direction merge into a rich tapestry of visual storytelling. Since 2006, my work has focused on blending traditional techniques with digital innovation to build meaningful, emotionally resonant visuals for film, animation, advertising, and institutional content. With a foundation in philosophy and cinema, and ongoing studies in Visual Arts at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, my goal is to explore how stories can be told not only through words but through textures, movement, and visual rhythm.
From working as a director and art director on short films, animated series, and commercial campaigns to producing educational animations for TED-Ed, I’ve always believed that visual art is one of the most powerful ways to communicate ideas that transcend language and culture. Every project I engage in—whether it's a minimalist storyboard for motion graphics or a richly layered background illustration—begins with a story to tell and a feeling to express.
Where Art Meets Research and Meaning
Behind every visual decision, there is a reason—a deeper intention informed by context, culture, and history. That’s why my creative process often intersects with academic research and critical reflection. Just as a scholar analyzes the evolution of visual trends and their socio-political roots, a visual artist must understand these contexts to create authentic and relevant work.
This connection between practice and theory is also why I believe academic writing—especially in the humanities and visual disciplines—plays an essential role in creative development. If you're a student, designer, or filmmaker interested in expanding your understanding of visual culture, taking the time to write or even read an art history essay can be eye-opening. It allows you to trace how artistic styles have evolved across cultures, understand symbolism in classical works, and identify recurring themes that continue to shape visual storytelling today.
The Artistic Dialogue Between Past and Present
Whether I’m illustrating a scene from a documentary or directing a whimsical animation for children, I’m constantly inspired by the rich legacy of visual art throughout history. Movements like Expressionism, Surrealism, and even Medieval religious iconography often inform color palettes, compositions, or character design decisions. In this sense, every project becomes a dialogue between the past and the present.
Incorporating elements from different eras allows my work to resonate on multiple levels. It becomes familiar yet fresh—rooted in tradition but forward-looking. That’s the power of studying visual history and turning it into a living, breathing part of modern storytelling.
A Space for Creative Collaboration and Exploration
This website is more than a portfolio—it's a space for dialogue, collaboration, and discovery. I invite you to explore my past projects and connect if you’re looking to bring a visual idea to life, be it for film, animation, or editorial content. If you’re here as a student or researcher, I also encourage you to check out the linked resources that delve into visual culture, storytelling, and the intersection of theory and practice—including the featured art history essay that expands on how we can all draw from the past to inform the creative future.
Let’s keep telling stories that move, inspire, and reflect who we are.
